Tax Bracket Calculator
See your estimated 2026 federal income tax and how much of your income falls in each tax bracket.
Private by design. Calculations stay in this page; your inputs aren’t sent or saved.
Start with your income
Enter your yearly income. We subtract the 2026 standard deduction for your filing status for you ($16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly, $24,150 head of household), then show your estimated federal income tax and how much of your income falls in each bracket. If you put money into a traditional 401(k) or an HSA through work, use your income after those contributions (box 1 of your W-2). To see what a raise or bonus would add, put it in the optional second box.
Hypothetical 2026 federal income tax estimate on ordinary income only. It uses the standard deduction, not itemized deductions, and leaves out the extra deductions for people 65 and older. It does not include tax credits, capital gains, qualified dividends, the net investment income tax, AMT, Social Security and Medicare taxes, self-employment tax, or state and local taxes. How it works
Understand the estimate
These tools provide educational estimates only and are not personalized investment, tax, legal, or financial advice. Results depend on assumptions and may differ from actual outcomes.
The U.S. taxes income in layers. Each tax rate applies only to the slice of income inside its bracket, so moving into a higher bracket never raises the tax on the income below it.
